Quotes

"An elementary school that treats the arts as a province of a few gifted children, or views them as recreation and entertainment, is a school that needs an infusion of soul. The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic." - William J. Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education

CELEBRATE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR WITH HOWDY WEEK!

The Senior Class welcomes you back to school with our annual “Howdy” Week  September 7-10.

The theme this year is B U (Be Yourself)---and we are taking on a different stereotype every day.

Students are encouraged to dress up in the spirit of the “stereotype of the day” while making sure to maintain the general spirit of FWAFA’s dress code (closed toe shoes, nothing too revealing or too short).

  • Tuesday 9/7  Country---break out your boots and jeans, yee haw!
  • Wednesday 9/8  Nerd---pocket protectors, suspenders, “high water” pants---the nerdier the better.
  • Thursday 9/9  Preps/Jocks----calling all cheerleaders and athletes---pop that collar and tie your sweater around your neck
  • Friday 9/10  Rebels—all of those “indies” have a sort of uniform too.  Rockers? Punks?  Hip Hop? You know what to do.

Howdy Week ends on Friday with a dance for secondary school students (grades 7-12) and a party (the Howdy Doo Dah) for elementary school students (grades 3-6).

HOWDY DOO DAH—after school party for grades 3-6
until 6pm  $10—permission slip required

WHAT:  Party for elementary school (grades 3-6) with dancing, games ranging from Twister to Guitar Hero, prizes and healthy snacks.

Costume Contest:   The Doo Dah theme is Mardi Gras/Princess and the Frog.  There will be a costume contest based on the theme.

Look for a permission slip to be passed out by your home-room teacher that will have very specific details.

HOWDY DANCE:  B U (Be You!) Dance Party for grades 7-12.
Dress up as one of the week’s stereotypes or just literally, be yourself.

7-10pm   Buy tickets in advance for $8 or at the door for $10
